Floodplain Management Program:
The planning commission is responsible for administering the floodplain management program for Holmes County and the Village of Killbuck. Generally, any change within the floodplain, including the installation or removal of fill material requires a permit from the planning commission. The permit application is available in the Document Library section. If you are planning to construct, fill or renovate a property within the floodplain, please complete an application. You are also welcome to contact us directly with any questions. Several items to consider when planning an activity in the floodplain are:
1) Elevation requirements are 2’ feet above an approximate floodplain or one foot above a detailed floodplain. This is often accomplished through the installation of fill material or use of pilings.
2) Structures constructed within a floodway shall require an engineering analysis.
3) No modification to the floodplain shall commence before a permit is issued.
